What is the breed?

I think the first one is a Japanese bantam or n old English game bantam. The other looks like an ameraucana cross as its rumpless

The second one is not an araucana cross as it has a tail, just missing the main feathers. It also has a great single comb, which wouldn't be the case if there was a pea comb breed mixed in.

I like all of the feedback I looked up Japanese Bantams and could not find any like Gray boy. I would agree with the Americauna cross on Billy, He does have black legs. What would be a good hen to cross the little English game bantam with? He is very small, do you think he would cross well with the Mille Fleur's? They are his size, I just don't know what the babies would look like

Like I said I aint the best with bantams, but I thought the japs had a higher held tail (tail and head touch basically)? Teach me

You're thinking Serama, who do have a spine-cracking angle

japanese hold thier tails erect and their wings down, just not so extreme


FarmerChef is right, the little guy in the pic doesn't fit the breed standard exactly, so I'd suspect he's a hatchery boy, but he just doesn't strike me as OEGB due to the extreme angle of wing carriage and lack of wedge for a tail. However, if he IS a hatchery boy, for all we know, they're mixing their OEGs and Japanese. He's off standard for either.

I'm so with you! If I open a post and see bantams, I usually just close it and move on. I try to read and learn sometimes, but like you said, just won't stick for nuttin

Guess I just like big birds!

Have to admit, there are times I run from a bantam post, but I try to remember to go back and see what the majority said it was, most the time I don't remember to go back.
