What is the meaning of this?

Don't feel bad! You did exactly what I would have done. He needs to learn that you are the true alpha, not him. Thor does his very best to stay at least three feet away from me at all times. If I decrease the space on purpose or accidently, he trips all over himself getting out of my way. This is the same way he behaved with my former alpha rooster.

Uh oh! What do you mean handle it? He only has 1 hen right now. And there is another rooster in with them...I know that is a bad idea but the other hen went MIA. And the roo that was doing it is the lower roo of the 2.

If you read the rest of these post everybody thinks how cute that is!!! or aawww ain't that sweet!!!. You will think it is so cute when he broadsides you when you turn your back on him, and he comes at you spurs flying. All I am saying is watch yourself and this behavior, this is how a mean rooster starts. When he displays and you do nothing because everybody thinks it's cute. Nip it in the bud and now, just show him you are the boss and his antics will not be tollerated when humans are in the pen. I don't mean to hurt the ole boy, you just stand and walk him around like he does to the other roos, that's showing your dominance. anyway don't be all huggy pie kissey poo until you know for sure he is not a threat to you.

AL

This is exactly what I was thinking. You need to discourage him from doing that immediately! Come at him with a loud voice and your arms raised. Holler loud! He is courtingyou right now and if you do not cooperate when he is in the mood, you will be sorry, if you don't discourage it now.

He is still avoiding me today. He was still giving me that same mad glare and doing the low noises. Only today I made some low noises back to him and ran toward him with my arms folded like wings( I KNOW my husband thought I had lost my mind) and he just laid down. I thought I had killed him. Even though I didn't even touch him. I couldn't help but bust out laughing and at which point the roo sprang back to life and took off for the opposite corner of the pen. All in all it has been a good day.

I dont allow a rooster to bring me down to the level of his hens, no sir. Had one bad young roo who would do that, and we'd grab him up, carry him around like a ragdoll to humiliate him or push him to the ground with our hand on his back. They aren't allowed to do that here.

ABSOLUTELY !! Either pick him up or push him to the ground.

If that does not work, hold his feet, him upside down and walk around with him for a short while.

It is IMPORTANT that you nip this in the bud. Next he will be Flogging you.

Roosters are a wonderful animal to have, but they HAVE to be handled correctly.

I don't have a grown roo yet, so I can't really chime in... but I am finding this thread very helpful for when my little ones get older.
