I paid $150 for a pair of 3 month old Jubilee Orpingtons, then we drove 550 - 600 miles (round trip) to pick them up (and Isbars & Cream Legbars). Beautiful, high quality birds that I did't want to risk by shipping. I'd been saving for months to get them! The lady I got them from offered me the other last juvenile roo/cockerel, so I took him too. (super dark, great color/spangles too) I'd gladly do it again, too! (I don't get out much and that was a beautiful Spring day trip lol) They're about 9 1/2 months old and she started laying 2 - 3 weeks ago.. finally. The first egg of theirs hatched yesterday, and one is hatching right now.

More in a few days, then a few days after that... and so on. hahhhahhaha y'all know how that is!! lol
Hang in Cluky, she'll probably start giving you eggs any day. Look in weird places for them. The very first Jub egg was laid in the 'dust bowl' where she takes her bath, mostly buried and just a little of it was poking out of the dirt. I almost missed noticing it. It was egg #4 that she finally started using the nest I fixed up for her.
I bought an earlier set of 3 CLegbars and 2 Rhodebars last year (shipped, 1 didn't make it) The 'lighter boy' Rhodebar survived, but grew up to be a girl. WTHeck???? But she's nearly a year old and has never laid an egg. She's healthy... could she be a no crow roo stuck in a no lay hen's body? gee whiz! lol maybe I should change her name to Yum-Yum. lol She has kind of scared me away from Rhodebars. lol
