$$$What is the most expensive chicken you have brought or sold?$$$

paid 85$ for a chocolate Orpington pullet. stupidest thing I have ever done. she looks awesome but is now over 9 months and not an egg in sight!!! serves me right, will get chicks from feed store next time

Give your Chocolate Orpington hen a chance....It's laying time for her now.....I'll bet as soon as the weather cools a bit she'll lay like mad, they are excellent winter layers....~Charm1704

god I hope so. she is the "blonde" of my flock but I love her dearly. just living in urban setting I do not have space for freeloaders!!!

$35 each for two sebright pullets and one Japanese bantam pullet. I think she gave me a break and paid a straight $100
700

I paid $150 for a pair of 3 month old Jubilee Orpingtons, then we drove 550 - 600 miles (round trip) to pick them up (and Isbars & Cream Legbars). Beautiful, high quality birds that I did't want to risk by shipping. I'd been saving for months to get them! The lady I got them from offered me the other last juvenile roo/cockerel, so I took him too. (super dark, great color/spangles too) I'd gladly do it again, too! (I don't get out much and that was a beautiful Spring day trip lol) They're about 9 1/2 months old and she started laying 2 - 3 weeks ago.. finally. The first egg of theirs hatched yesterday, and one is hatching right now. :D More in a few days, then a few days after that... and so on. hahhhahhaha y'all know how that is!! lol

Hang in Cluky, she'll probably start giving you eggs any day. Look in weird places for them. The very first Jub egg was laid in the 'dust bowl' where she takes her bath, mostly buried and just a little of it was poking out of the dirt. I almost missed noticing it. It was egg #4 that she finally started using the nest I fixed up for her.
I bought an earlier set of 3 CLegbars and 2 Rhodebars last year (shipped, 1 didn't make it) The 'lighter boy' Rhodebar survived, but grew up to be a girl. WTHeck???? But she's nearly a year old and has never laid an egg. She's healthy... could she be a no crow roo stuck in a no lay hen's body? gee whiz! lol maybe I should change her name to Yum-Yum. lol She has kind of scared me away from Rhodebars. lol

Well my chicks are absolutley priceless love em to much to sell

Nuttin wrong with that daew. I love my chickies, too.. as we all do. However for me, and I reckon some others, it's also a way for the chickens to help buy their feed and stuff, and other folks get some chicks to love, too. Some are breeds that aren't easy to find around here. win win for everyone.
