What is the quietest dual purpose duck breed?

My Cayugas are, and have always been, quiet. I have a pair, and Thelma has only quacked REALLY LOUDLY about six times in her year of life. One real big QUACK! when a chicken was pecking at her, or somebody stepped on her feet, stuff like that. The rest of the time, she and Louie gabble pretty quietly to each other (and me).

We have mallards and Scovies.. My Scovie girls are quiet as can be. They are actually great ducks to have around. The mallards (including the drakes) are VERY loud.

If I'd get more ducks and had to choose between the two I'd get more scovies.

how quiet are ancona ducks. I've been wanting a few of them some time... I have a pair of welsh harlequins right now and one female pekin. Judy the pekin whas loud when we first brought her home and introduced her to Daisy and Stanley.. Now she is quiet. Daisy is the loud mouth when she is excited or scared or I haven't given them their morning food yet..

Thank you for all the help!

I didn't like the cayugas at first- I have BA hens and more black seemed like too much- BUT...

The green shine on the cayugas, and the fact that they are reasonably quiet (I would yell too if someone stepped on me), I think they are going to be a must have. Oh, and the black/grey eggs... Very cool...

DH says not to worry about the noise so much- I do tend to over worry- so now I am thinking cayugas and WH or pekin. I mean if you goind to do it- why not go all in...

Well, that is how things look now...

And still open to any/all of your ideas.

This is an amazing forum- so many nice people, and always offering heartfelt suggestions and ideas.

I love you guys...

My cayugas are pretty quiet, they make noise once in a while but it's pretty soft, can't hear it at my neighbor's and it never last long, only if they see me bringing out peas or something.

Round and round it continues... I just can't subject my neighbors to a pekin. Anyone have experience with the temperament of a Silver Appleyard? Egg laying ability? (The numbers vary so greatly depending on which webite your looking at!)

Thank you...

This may tie in to this thread somewhat...can different duck breeds be kept together? Which ones if not, should be avoided being kept together. I now have the noisy Pekins...But I love how they talk to me when they see me. And really thats the only time they "talk" but I'm getting (if I can find a breeder I'd rather not order from a hatchery if I can help it) black Cayuga ducks. Maybe would like some Runners too. Just wondering.
