I've seen no difference in how much they lay, however: I am cutting my feed bill a little. Winter is coming and they are eating triple the feed, but since I started adding the bear fat they seem more satisfied and less ravenously hungry. I am thinking that adding a little fat in with their mash will only be a pre-winter/winter addition to their diet. depending how active they are of course. It's fall and they are still free ranging in my 2 acre fenced yard and expend a ton of energy all day long.
My husband also uses the bear lard to waterproof boots in the winter. He also uses it on guns.
I add bear lard to pans when cooking, such as eggs, and especially meat, I also add it stews since game meat is so lean. We eat mostly game meat and it is very lean, so fat needs to be added to the pan. I also add it to the pan to fry up the breakfast sausage patties I made with the bear meat. The sausage is very lean, I did not add fat to it, but instead add the bear lard to the pan when cooking it.
I can't eat wheat, so I don't make biscuits or pie crust, but my old neighbor lady does and she says is it the best lard in the world for making those 2 things. She patiently waits for me to give her lard....LOL. She traded a butchered and packaged up meat rabitt for several jars of bear lard this year, it was a good trade!

I saw my chicken pecking at a leftover bolt laying on the sidewalk ...I was getting close to pick it up while telling my chicken not to eat it. But my little leghorn picked it up and it disappeared down her throat. It was close to an inch and a half long. I was concerned of course but this was two months ago? She seems happy and healthy, I can only imagine it's siting in her gizzard wasting space in there.

Or possibly acting like a pestle, grinding food down perfectly, with a bit of trace minerals on the side. ;P
Oh my, we just finished the last of the Smokeye salmon we had in freezer….never thought about letting our girls have the skin! Maybe next year? I throw it away.
And I flush my cat's poop...

Some are edible, made from corn starch.
No, they were styrofoam and not mad for human consumption. He made terrible gas smells. No one could stand to be near him. Really!
Mine have eaten baby rabbits, goldfish, and catfish. It was a little sad seeing them carrying the baby rabbits around in their mouth.
