I just butchered a bunch of roos, one had a 1/2" metal hex nut in it's gizzard.I saw my chicken pecking at a leftover bolt laying on the sidewalk ...
I can only imagine it's siting in her gizzard wasting space in there.

Ive always given the rib cages of deer, meat and fat, for the chickens to peck at in the winter. And any meat scraps that I don't use for sausage and fat to them also.
I recently butchered 4 roosters, I didn't even think to look in their gizzard! darn! It would have been interesting to see what was in there. I'll get to look when I butcher this next group of cockerels in a few months.I just butchered a bunch of roos, one had a 1/2" metal hex nut in it's gizzard.
We had a hen that ate a large elastic once, she seemed to think it was a worm. My neighbor and I chased her around trying to get it away from her while she ran madly about trying to eat it before we got her.Think Laurel and Hardy.. didn't seem to bother her.
My brahmas ate about a half lb of sticky medical buds
My cat had one sticking out of his butt... I thought it was a worm, grabbed it with a napkin and pulled... OMG never heard a cat whail like that. It came out no problem though.![]()
