What is this animal?

I am no expert but as far as I know in the south east they only have pocket gophers, that is not a pocket gopher.

i agree, groundhog, but it could also be a gopher.

I thought groundhog and gopher were two different words for the same animal depending what part of the country you are from... now I'm confused.

aaahhh... and I thought a whistlepig was the same as a prairie dog... now I'm all sorts of mixed up, I blame moving across the country for this one, different rodents plus different names for the same rodents... either way, you don't want it in a chicken coop/run.

Nope, Praririe Dogs live in the Praririe as there name states, where Whistlepig, Ect. Lives elsewhere.

not a gopher! too big, wrong shape. Either groundhog or woodchuck, either way the biggest concern is the burrows - Where we live we don't worry about hem at all.

sometimes marmots are called whistle pigs. (you likely have marmots where you are in CO. they are benign creatures)
