To me it looks like a similar sore that has been pictured before on BYC over the years. Some think it may be caused a papilloma virus, and some have fallen off eventually. It also could be caused by a scrape or cut on a fence or feeder. No one ever seems to find out for sure. Fowl pox is likely to cause more scabs on the face, comb, or wattles, so if more appear, that could be it. Here are a couple of similar in threads:

Edited to change this term to a possible papilloma, instead of papilloamvirus.
Ok so I am posting several more photos of “the thing” lol...any help appreciated. Elle the buff orp was so gentle and cooperative in letting me open her mouth and take pics! I don’t see anything in her mouth. There was a piece of debris on her tongue but it washed away so it’s not a lesion. Otherwise to my untrained eyes, she looks normal everywhere but on the beak. I also double checked my other chickens and they all look good so far.Can we ask for one more photo of the "thing" from the front?

Get me her phone number! Wooo Hooo View attachment 1347061
Thank you for the help. I hope you’re right! I took the pictures with my iPhone 7.Since the rest of her is so healthy looking (no other lesions on her comb or wattles) I suspect this might be from trauma of running her beak through wire. Wonderful photos!

I definitely will-thanks!Does not look like fowl pox to me. Let us know if it gets worse or heals over the next 2 - 3 weeks.
