What is this cloacal mass?

Yesterday AM my 3 y.o. RIR started acting as if she were egg bound. On exam her exterior was swollen and I was pretty sure I felt an egg and that I saw a bit of it poking through. We first tried a warm water bath with Epsom salts and the other usual recommendations. Nothing happened for several hours, the hen’s condition was deteriorating, so we decided to become more aggressive. With a pair of forceps I was able to extract the mass that was in her cloaca (see the accompanying picture). 24 hrs later the hen is doing pretty well, eating and drinking, and is in no distress. Does anyone have an idea what I removed from her cloaca? Thanks in advance.

If you still have that can you cut it open and see what it looks like inside?
I suspect it's a 'lash egg' or lash material, caused by infection/inflammation of the oviduct, called salpingitis.

You are absolutely right. Attached is a pic with the specimen cut in half. It is clearly a lash egg. Thanks!
