What is this feather mohawk??

This is a hatchery bird..
I know what it is supposed to be.. but it sure doesn't look like that...
So what do you folks think it is?

It's supposed to be a black copper Maran.

It has the copper feathers coming in at the neck...
It's sort of cool looking... good thing I'm not looking for show quality birds. I wonder if it will lay dark brown eggs.

I would say that it is a Cross Bred.. Maybe a Polish Cross....

I think that someone got their chickens crossed at the hatchery. Can I ask where specifically you got this interesting bird from? I know that crosses happen. I ordered some Light Sussex from Sand Hill and got some crazy looking bird that is definitely NOT an LS. I am going to venture to say you have a BCM crossed with a Polish or Spitz.
I hope it is a pullet at least

ohh I think he is so cute. If it is a polish I hope my little one with devil horns looks like that soon.

My polish babies looked like they were ridden hard and put away wet for a few weeks while their feathers were coming in. My little silver laced still has major bedhead.
