What is this guy? He's having a SERIOUS identity crisis!

Off topic, but, WHY would someone put chickens out on vacant property like that? Did he provide those birds with protection?... food?... water?... anything, except land to free range on?

The guy has an RV out there, some things that look like chicken nest boxes, etc.

Of course, this is the same guy who turned a bunch or rabbits loose and then expected them to stick around and not get eaten by hawks!

Looks like this last week he brought a dog out there.

The guy lives on the other side of town (30 min drive) and he comes out here about once a week. I ASSUME he is paying the neighbor to feed the dog.

I was testing out my new Canon 5D Mark 2 last night, which is an SLR.

The lense really makes it for that low depth of field shot (limited in focus). I was using a 70-200mm lense with a 2.8 aperature.

If you do have an SLR and are shooting with a zoom lense it will force more to be out of focus like this shot.

If you have a regular lense you can turn your camera to the manual side and put it on AV which is the aperature (how much is in focus), go down to about 5.6 and try that. The lower the number the less in focus (great for portraits, or shots like this) the higher the number, like f11 will have more in focuse (like a shot of a mountain range or something).

I've got an OLD Minolta SLR that I've been thinking about digging back up & trying again...I got frustrated with it years ago when I got it, and that was when digitals were just on the verge of becomming affordable, so I got one of those, and my old Minolta has been up on the closet shelf since. THANKS for the tips!

No problem. Once you pull it down and play with it, some things to note:

ISO/ASA--film speed. For general day light outside, 200-400 is good. If you have a zoom, maybe do 400.

For inside shots 400-800 speed typically.

BTW, if you still need a logo, let me know!

I remember the very, very basics, and that's about it. They used to have inexpensive photography classes through my local adult ed. - maybe I'll check into that as well! Thanks..you've spurred my interest again!

No problem.

You can pick up a Canon SLR kit for about $500 for the basic model.

Some of the Ritz's and Wolfs are going out of business, so if you have one in your area, see what they have on clearance!

Another site for an awesome deal on gear: bhphotovideo.com

Also, don't know if you saw this a minute ago: BTW, if you still need a logo, let me know

Thanks much for the tips!

I THINK I'm good on the logo...several folks have submitted ideas, and I'm waiting on one more, but one person hit it out of the park, I think. It's going to be hard making a decision...there are SO many talented folks here on BYC!

He's Golden Duckwing/Golden Duckwing mix. I don't think they're supposed to have laces on their chests? I dunno. Our Golden Duckwing roo is mean and old but he used to be pretty like that minus the lacing on the chest.
