I found this inside of a hard boiled egg. What is it?? It's got a hardish outer shell and the inside is red. In my 10+ years of raising chickens I have never seen this before. Any thoughts? pen shown for size reference...

Probably some sloughed off reproductive tract tissue that got a coating of shell material as it passed down the tract.

Hard to assess after hardboiling...haha...could be a piece of tissue or infection or malformed/immature ova.
    Was it bright red inside?
    How old is bird.
If you know what bird it came from, might be good to keep an eye on her eggs(break them open raw).
Hopefully it's a one off fluke.
    Great pic btw.
