At first glance it looks like a siamese cat! But the tail is thicker and longer. Not fox like. I'm a little late in the conversation, but thought it was interesting.

first of all i would like to thank everyone who has helped to try and identify this critter.
i really did not want it to be a big cat of any breed but i just knew it looked like a cat.then came a few answers of a grey fox.all i knew of fox were the reds and i knew it wasn't one of those.

first,some comparison shot of all the animals taken that night.

red fox-see the black shading on the front legs,taller and leaner and of course the bushy tail.

i really think this is the animal that looked like a small cougar.
thanks to all the info on here about these little foxes.i never knew that much about them especially that they were so cat like,even climbing trees.

Thanks for uploading the new photos and being persistant and following through. It drives me crazy when a photo gets posted, whether it be breed/sex ID or predator ID and we never get to find out the end result. So I greatly appreciate your thread!

Hate to open another can of worms but those last few pictures look a lot like a juvenile of one of these:

The ears aren't perky enough, the tail lacks the black stripe(from what I can see) and, assuming this camera is in the same position as the one that photographed the fox a couple entries ago this animal is bigger than a red fox so can't be a grey. This is not to say the original photo wasn't a grey it is just that this one isn't the same animal, it is a coyote.

ETA: Here we go again.
