It's not terrible. It's just unappealing to see. The problem is that hens who do that once, do it on a regular basis, usually. They say it's a hereditary trait, that her daughters may also do that, but I don't know if that's true or not. Just spoon it out and cook the egg. Wont hurt you.

I can't beleive how many people here have never seen this. I've had my Marans for less than a year and see it often - almost identical to the photo. I just figured it was common.

I see them occasionally too. You will almost never see them in store eggs because if they are found, they are taken out and eggs are used for other purposes instead.
