Thanks for the tip, I'll remember that

I have a very sensitive nose and I've never smelled any odor from one of these type of wounds. Again, it's not a liquid puss, it's a dry, hard substance that grows internally and has not been open for flies or maggots (the things that cause "smell") to get in. There should be no rotted flesh.

I am hoping for a quick and easy go of it for you and your girl

If you have help, and can stomach it, pictures would be educational to others whom may have to do something similar.

Vicks under the nose helps with smells. Good luck. I want to see how this turns out!

I'll try the vicks, thanks. And I'll take loads of pics for everyone.

Thinking of you and hoping for success for you and your girlie. Great info given and I will remember this for my own girlies, thanks all.

Funny - thanks. Who would have known? If someone had told me that a few years ago I would have laughed till I tinkled on myself.

I guess there's worse things to be known as. Around here, they call me the "Chicken Lady".

At least so far, I'm not the "Crazy Chicken Lady" but hey, give me time.

I'll bet you a dozen free eggs there's NO odor/smell.

By the way, you did say this is NOT her crop right? Hard to tell from photos. I've done impacted crop surgery a few times too - now there's a smell - phew.
