What is this?

Cool!
Maybe
It digs holes. . that's all I know. :gig
It came from Oklahoma.
Well shoot that video called it an ‘auger post hole digger’ ... so shows what I know...

There was a different video of a guy with one that he’d screw on more length to the handle the deeper he went, down to 20’ or something... that was the video I thought I was linking....

But you’re right it digs a hole... unless it’s in my yard.. then it just sits in the shed hiding from the rocks ;)

You're not gonna believe this, but I was watching tv after guessing in this, and one of those pole diggers was on it! And it actually takes place in the 21st century!

Is this for digging irrigation ditches or cleaning them? Never seen such a thing!
You are close..

That is a “tile or tiling spade”.. it was used to dig a trench the right width for a clay tile to be laid into and let the water drain a field...

There is a second item used with this.. it is a tiling trowel... it is rounded and on a long handle for leveling the bottom of the trench after the spade dug it..

The idea behind the spade was the dirt would be lifted out and the water would pass through.

I’m familiar with a ‘sharp shooter’ tile spade, but never saw the slotted one!
