What is this?

... I love pawpaws, but would not put 'em in my pocket.....

Yeah that guy is singing it wrong... lol... we always sang “puttin em in a basket...” ... I think my people were too poor to have pockets ;)

They like a pretty wet fertile spot... I find them along the river, or along low wetter drainages... last week I planted some seeds from fruits I collected last year... I cold stratified them in the back of the fridge all winter... And put the seeds in a wet seepy area up here by the house...we’ll see if they grow. :idunno

We go “looking for Susie” right around Labor Day to find ripe wild paw paws.

I've seen the small pawpaw trees in the woods bordering our pond, and have searched extensively in there and in the nearby little 'canyon' thru which a stream flows. This was right after visiting Virginia a couple years ago and seeing them up close (and overhead), so I felt I knew what I was looking for. Finally I just gave up. We have been planning to move out to the NW so I didn't pursue it any further after that year. And the ticks and chiggers tend to limit desire to explore in the summer.

I never heard of a pawpaw tree...

Did I post this yet?
