my dad was a plasterer
he used it to hold the plaster, he took the plaster off of it ,to put on the wall

Technically I was wrong.
I was thinking brickwork not fancy plastering jobs.

not fancy plastering... pre drywall .. most everyone had plaster walls.... or wood
