Never really been around a coal burning furnace...

... but a quick bit of reading learned me that it’s for grabbing hold of slag and removing it from the burning coals... aka “clinkers” ... so that would make this a “clinker grabbin stick” ?

The more I learn about you northies and your winter ways, the more I understand why you couldn’t swing a dead cat in Arizona without hitting a Minnesota-ian, when I was out there

It’s a about 18” lond and extends out to about 24”

Hint... I hadn’t seen one before until my neighbor ( a retired carpenter mentioned it) ... so I picked up an old one a while back.
