what is this??

this is the second black chick(different breed) that has hatched that has little black dots all over it, I hope it shows in the pic.... what is it??

What do the dots feel like? Dirt? Freckles?

The first chick that hatched with these was weeks ago, the only way to I could describe it was it looked like mites. Obviously it is not since it just came out of the shell. It is little hard balls attatched to the chicks down. I am thinking it is just some sort of buildup, but I can't stand not knowing what it "really" is. I know it's not an emergency, but I wasn't sure where to put it. It has only happened on the black chicks, I think the flash makes the chick look lighter than it is. Thanks for the help

Could it be bits of fluff that got all balled up while the chick was wiggling around in the shell to get out?
