what a week first it started out to my parents house. i have my flight pens for my pheasants and waterfowl. well my parents property has chain link around it to keep the dogs out. well it didn't work dog got in then dug and pushed against my pen until it got into my pen killed all my sliver pheasants my drake wood duck all my ringnecks, my golden my pied about $400.00 worth of birds. then a couple days later at my house a my neighbors dog gotout of his yard and ended up in mine and got into my chickens killing 6. and finally a rat has gotten into my younger birds and killed my only buff silkies
This is so awful there aren't the words to describe it.
Do you know whose dog it was in either case? Those birds will never see another sunny day and there is no amount of money that can compensate for that but I would strongly recommend reporting it and billing mightily for your loss. Relentless, the accounts of dog attacks reported here on BYC, and this denotes only the tip of the iceberg, I'm sure. So very sorry .....................................
Yea that really is bad news!! So sorry to hear that. Somebody send this thread to the horses patuts that got their dogs shot! or better yet the morons that so verbally abused Lisajean on myspace! It should be justifiable to shoot the idiot dog owners right in the seat of their pants!
When I lived in Germany, in small towns some of the men would go out early on a Saturday morning and shoot loose dogs. In Germany, you are not allowed to let your dogs loose, and they enforce it. They also had you get a license (you) for yourself to own a dog.
I think we need to enforce those laws. I doubt I can shoot any dog, however, I think I could if he was killing one of my chickens.
Dang!!
That's really bad news!
Did the worm food have a collar?
Did you take pics of the damage in case any one's looking for a missing dog? That way you can hand them a bill for the damage.
