What is wrong with her?

This morning, I went out to feedbthe chickens. Usually, they all come running to the edge of the run. Penny was missing. She was still in the coop, roosting. Her chest was doing this weird spasm. I did not have my phone to get a video, but will try to get one later. Trying to get this quick post up before getting the kids ready for school and me for work.
She is 27 weeks, almost 28. She is not laying yet, but looks close. She is a buff orp.
Her chest looked like an animal was inside trying to get out. That is the best description I can come up with. Her head was steady and she watched me the whole time.
Any ideas? I will get a video up after work, if I can.

Here is the video. My daughter helped, so we were able to get it this morning. She ate one blueberry but will not drink or eat anything else. I have her separated right now in a dog crate in our house. Her crop is empty.

weird, I've never seen it, but I have seen it described on BYC before. hopefully someone else will chime in. all I can find on google is impacted crop or gape worm.

My first guess would have been there's something in her crop that's bothering her.

I honestly say i havent seen this one yet. Maybe a crop issue? Smell her breath to check if its sour. Hopefully someone knows more. Maybe she ate something that is still alive. Ive heard they can down a whole mouse but i havent observed mine do so yet. Best of luck to you

That is interesting. She does not look like she is adjusting her crop which they sometimes do. It looks like an involuntary spasm probably neurological in nature. I would try giving some vitamin E 40 mcg daily squirted on some food, and give a little bit of chopped egg for selenium daily. That would treat her in case of wry neck. Neurological symptoms can be due to head injury, vitamin deficiency, or diseases such as Mareks. Some chickens also can have seizures. Sorry your chicken is having problems.

Thanks. I hope it isn't Mareks. Her crop is empty, but she has perked up and is scratching around in the dog crate. I am heading to work now but will be home by 2, so I will cook an egg for her and pick up some vitamin E on my way home.

When you held her crop did it move like that?
Could you feel where the spasms were coming from?
