I went out to my 7 week old chicks today to find that one has this red "thing" on the side of her head. At first I thought it was an open wound or sore. When I took her out to look at it, it seems more like a blood blister. It is a "sac" of sorts. But it doesn't look like it is going to burst or weep or anything. The other chicks act like normal around her, and she is acting normal. I thought for sure they would peck her. When I took her out of the flock's area she just ran around trying to get back in! I took pictures, but I am not sure how to attach them here. It kind of looks like the beginning of her "waddle" but up to high. It is below her eye and closer to the ear hole. Is this normal and I didn't know it? There are what look like the little stick parts of her new feathers sticking out of it...where it looks like the feathers fell off and now are growing back. I OBVIOUSLY am new at the chicken raising, so any help, thoughts, information or directions would be great...
Thank you~
