What is wrong with my chickens

I'm new to chickens, and not very good at it. Recently, just the past four or five days, my two older chickens have fallen I'll. It started with callus like bumps on their eyes and comb. Now each on has a swollen closed eye and the rooster has black crusty stuff around the eye. I have cleaned it with warm water but it didn't seem to help. They aren't showing any other signs of illness or disease. Still a healthy interest in food and water, still active. I don't know if it's an injury or disease or pest or what. I will post pics when I can.

From what you have described it could possibly be fowl pox. But as the eyes are swollen & closed it may not be.

Would you be able to post a picture please as that would really help to determine the problem.

I think fowl pox my chickens are dealing with it now too!

Sounds like it may be fowl pox. Search and find pictures for comparison. If there are lesions/bumps near an eye it can sometimes cause a secondary infection in the eye. If you can get some terramycin eye ointment, put in the affected eye(s) twice a day. Depending on what state you are in it may be available at your feed store/tractor supply.
