What is wrong with my potatoes?!?

This is how my potatoes came up today and I’m wondering what I did wrong.

looks like wet rot maybe? could you cut one in half and see what the inside looks like?

They are hard no smell did notice the foliage started turning yellow. They flowered a few weeks ago. I’m new at potatoes so didn’t know when to pull them.

im going with soft rot. ill link an article you can read about it. this article also includes blackleg but the soft rot will be under it

When your potato plants die and dry up, they are ready to dig up.

When your potato plants die and dry up, they are ready to dig up.

It also helps toughen the potato skin if it sits in the ground, versus being dug up.

Only dig the potatoes you want to eat right away if you dig them early.
