What is wrong with our younger generation?

Quote:
First and formost I am not talking on every one in the new generation (just to make this clear and not let everybody get mad )
The problem we have is not the young generation fault, it is the parents and the schools faults and the whole society when they started spoilling the young kids and show them that they are so speciall and they can do what they like to do, when I was a kid I was not only afraid of my dad or my mom if I done some thing bad, but I was afraid of the neighbors and any one who know my Parents to tell on me. Today a child has no respect for no one not even himself and alot of them don't know the meaning of the world SHAME ( we used to say, if you are not shy and have shame then you do what ever you want to do), on the other hand (this is very important IMO) people got far from God and the LIFE became thier God and that what also made most younger Folks have no respect or regards for any thing.
I am an old fashion guy who grew up working since Childhood, and I knew that Life and respect takes time to earn and that is the only way I will live my life.
So for all the young Folks please don't try to understand me the wrong way, but try to get where I come from and what I really mean from all what I said and please forgive me if I said something you don't like.

I am only 12 but i have always been grateful for what i get and always say thank you for something and i have so far been brought up with tough love. most kids nowadays are so spoilt and have so much.

A lack of responsibility. Being pampered. Getting things easy. The government. going to church and religion not being stressed enough. Things alowed to go public (have you seen the comercials past 9:00 pm?). The list just goes on and on and on.

Stereotyping a generation only serves the purpose of misplacing frustration. Lots of little children, teenagers, and young adults are kind and thoughtful. Lots of older people are inconsiderate and rude. And the reverse for each statement is true too. Call your family member and ask if she likes the quilt. If she says yes, then say "Good. I was hoping you did because I made it with love." Then be glad you made something so lovely for another person to enjoy.

IMO, a little more behind spanking and a little less "I want to be your BFF" style of parenting would go a long way.

This, exactly. I had the BFF style parents, and I so wish I had real parents. I'm not making that mistake with my children.

Call your family member and ask if she likes the quilt.

Have to agree with this. I was raised in a strict write-your-thank-yous-as-you-open-gifts environment. Some relatives had several string attached to each gift (and I don't mean curling ribbon), and they especially absolutely demanded thank yous. I actually greatly prefer *not* receiving thank yous myself, and find the people who support and care for me most in life also usually tend to be the people who don't do thank yous. <3

MY parents taught ME to say thank you.

MAYBE you should be asking whats wrong with the younger generation's PARENTS?

After all, you dont know unless your taught.

Just sayin'
