What is your favorite kind of dog?

I'm one who has a hard time choosing. My gut reaction is golden retriever but I've only ever had one and loved him so much I haven't been able to have another. I've had two pugs. They're cute, sweet and funny but I can't say they're my favorite. I do love lab/hound mixes and I adore my australian shepherd but he's not typical of the breed. (the rescue people called him a golden in aussie clothing-lol-that should tell me something!)

I just love animals! I can't possibly pick a favorite breed. I have owned shepherds, huskys, dachsunds, westies, boxers, chihuahuas, and beagles. If I have to pick the best dogs I ever owned, first would be my shepherd Rocko (RIP baby Rocko!) and next would have been the husky I had as a teenager.

Chihuahuas, lots of chihuahuas. They are great company for an empty nester. If I were younger I would have a doberman or golden retriever.

No favorite. I like dogs mind you, in and of themselves. We have several, in fact, which are good mutts for the most part. If I had to pick one favorite, it would be a working dog like a retriever or a Spitz.

But they are essentially freeloaders, only useful for their bark and to learn a few commands. Were I a sheep herd, I would look at it differently, I'm certain. But I'm not, so my affection for canines is limited to a warm sort of friendliness. "Good pooch," and all that...

AS this is Back Yard CHICKENS, and when chickens are involved, then I am not on the dogs side at all. They should be kept far apart, the dog not to be fully trusted around the birds. Their inner natures are just a wing flap or too-loud "begaaaaawk" away from colliding.

I grew up with mini schnauzers... I love the minis and the giants.. they are smart and have really funny attitudes! I have a rescued chihuahua right now who I wouldn't trade for the world... but the HAIR... ARGH!

Dobermans - the only difficult thing about owning a Doberman is losing a piece of your soul when one of yours dies.
