I usually call them my girls or chicks...but when I call them to come get treats, it’s “chick-chick”! My 20-month-old grandson now mimics me and as soon as he sees me, he wants to go see the chick-chicks and look for eggs :love.

Oh thats funny, my husband also calls them "Chick-chicks". when I call them I usually yell "Pock, Pock, Pock" pitched to point it sort of sounds like the noise they make when excited over something. So, guess which they come to? To my hubby's everlasting disgust. He says I sound silly, the girls come to me though!

When I’m talking to the whole flock it’s “Ladies”, if I’m working with them individually I’ll use whatever nickname suits what I’m saying. If they’re being corrected I may say “look here Missy” or in severe cases “you little S###”. One of my Phoenix hens wants to be broody and I call her “little girl” and explain why we’re not having any more chicks this year. I talk to them like they’re little people but none of the hens have names, I track them by breed and leg band color. I have 32 and would never be able to keep names straight. My Lakenvelder rooster is named Mouse and he’s my only rooster, he gets referred to by name but he doesn’t listen.
