I remember that phrase from a storybook when I was a wee little thing - I seem to think it described a little girl's ideal dress. Whether the author created it or heard it from somewhere else, I have no clue.

I'll just throw this one out there, but potassium burns with a purple flame. It's pretty spectacular seeing some of the flames the metals produce.
