What is your most clever coop/run idea?

Can anyone tell me about their floor? Lino? Wire? Clean tray?

I don't see how we could do a wire floor with a removable tray as our man door is not located near the pens. Also I think it might be a whole other ball of wax for me here in the north with so much snow and ice for so much of the year. Last year the coop was uncleanable for weeks as they sat under the heat lamps on their roosts while the poop mound got larger and larger and more and more frozen.

I am looking forward to trying a poop tray and hopefully even in our terrible winter it will be better then last year.

I'm still waiting to come up with a clever idea (that doesn't also have a down side).

My latest creation though is a run for a broody hen with chicks. It's not pretty, but the top slides off for easy access to the run. And, I've got a HUGE door on the back of the dog house for easy access for cleaning. I tacked on the bit of plastic corrugated roofing when I realized the hen didn't want to take her chicks into the house on the first night (guess she wasn't sure if there still might be a dog in there

) and it was supposed to rain that night. They are pretty comfy with the whole set up now, and it seems there is room for them to grow for awhile. AND, so far it seems pretty raccoon (and rat) proof.

We will be working on a totally new coop, as soon as time allows...This one is being designed by my 17 yr old. It's a castle turret. We had hoped for a moat, but I'm not sure that's going to work out.
