here is another pic of the same tom with one of his his 3/4 DEW and 1/4 Standard Bronze offspring about 4 months old.
The hen behind them is a half DEW and half SB. She laid the egg the Jake came from.
The Jake has a much lighter fan than the Tom. I hunt turkeys and I've shot toms with fans that were as light as this tom and also some much darker. Although both of their legs look about the same color the tom's legs are much more red than the Jake and not nearly as heavy boned. The Tom was about 2 1/2 years old last fall when this was taken, but the hens keep plucking out his beard. It was about 7 inches long.
BTW..if you look in the top pic you can see two hens in the back. The hen on the right is a half DEW and half SB. The other is DEW on the left. She is much more brown and finer built.
