What killed her?

Corid and Sulmet only treat coccidia if they have it. I have had full grown chickens come down with, vet did fecal. Said in our hot, humid wet conditions things develop. Also if you bring in a chicken that has a different form of coccidia then you chickens are use too, they will get that form and can get sick. Coccidia has like 9-12 different types/forms, your chickens build up tolerance to what ever type is on your ground/poo etc... Something new comes along and poos, your chickens eat it and then they have a new form they are not use too. If you have not wormed your chickens, nor brought in any new chickens , worm with the Wazine and see if they have regular worms.

If you did not see your chicken limping with just one leg, or lose control of one side of her body, then I doubt she had Mareks.

I was told that those are some of the symptoms.

The predominant symptom for mareks is paralysis in a leg and/or wing. Eventually the bird sits in a position like the splits--one leg extended to the front, the other to the rear. The symptoms you describe do not sound at all like mareks. They do sound like parasites: worms or coccidia, or possibly even mites/lice.

We treated them for mites about a month ago.

My pullet (posted in another thread) started limping. 2-3 days later that leg became paralyzed and then a few days after that the second leg became parazlyed (this started 11 days ago). Both wings (and tail) are fine. Both legs are back behind her - not one in front and one in back. Could this still be Marek's?

sorry for the loss. im learning about this cocci as yall talk about it. 1 sick chick brought to the farm from the auction has been my biggest trouble. hope the rest of your flock is ok.

Though this may be common, it is not the only position they end up in. I have lost several bantams and a couple of adults to Marek's and NONE of them did the "splits" position, and neither did they have the one-side paralysis. All of them started with stumbling and weakness, and progressed to sitting all the way back on their haunches with both legs stuck straight out in front of them. The necropsy on the last 3 showed Marek's and a couple of strains of cocci.
