Wow, that's bad. It's not a snapping turtle. In how much time could this have happened? Coon or weasel seems likely.

Weasels aren't common in this area but it is possible. We do have raccoons, possum, fox, and coyotes.

One last guess. Has anybody had a problem with mink and could it do that much damage? I still haven't been able to locate the area of the attack. Most of the big feathers are in the water. My other ducks seem to be terrified to go in the water. They've been hiding under a bench all day and will only go to the pond for a drink.

If your ducks are afraid to go in the pond I am thinking snapping turtle. Member have posted on here in years past pics of what a snapping turtle can do to their ducks they can take huge chunks out. could have been more than one too.

Very sorry for your loss. Get rid of those snappers asap.

Although Mink do swim so could have been a mink a member a few years ago had one of her geese killed by a mink.
