What kind of clothes/shoe do you wear when you're in the coop and run?

If it's not raining and mucky I wear a pair of red plaid slip on tennis shoes, if it is raining I wear a pair of paisley rain boots.

Both stay in the shoe basket by the back door. If we are traveling through you HAVE to go out the garage and not into the house!

I do wear clothes.

Shoes off in the house seems to be regional to me. When we lived in the Calif bay area, it was unheard of to ask anyone to take their shoes off except for a few people who had white carpets and were considered snobby for asking guests to take their shoes off.

When we moved to the PNW, it's the custom to remove your shoes before entering a house. Most people wear clogs that slip on and off. Since you know you're going to be taking your shoes off, you plan for that. There are some people that will tell you to leave your shoes on and then you can, but unless it's specified, you just take them off before going in.

I actually like it. It's informal and the house doesn't get muddy from all our rain (would like some of that rain this week!).

We just go out and visit/feed the chickens in the clothes we have on. On full cleaning days I will wear older clothes and then take a shower afterwards.

My youngest and I have chicken shoes (Croc knockoffs) that we wear out there. They stay just inside the garage door. Would leave them in the garage, but the thought of spiders hiding in there ended that thought lol. In the Winter I wear my fur lined Croc knockoffs

Everyone else just makes quick visits out there, so they are usually wearing whatever they have on.

I would like a pair of Muck boots from TSC, simply because I am tired of spilling water in my Crocs everytime I refill the chickens waterers.

I have designated chicken sneakers that I only wear around the coop and run. I have bought shares in "Off" because I'm from chillier climes and can't stand to be overheated and have to live in shorts in the summer. The skeeters and I don't get along

A dust mask is essential - I can't imagine breathing in all the dust from inside the coop when I clean it (especially the DE

WOW!! Me, TOO!!! Must come with living in the country...

LOL, I thought I was the only one HA. In the summer I stay in a bikini mainly unless I have been somewhere or something. I sun bathe nude every day outside and no one has ever caught me yet.......Nice to live so far out. Well, we won't talk about the Centurtytel man who may have seen me running to the clothes line naked one day but I really don't think he saw!

Ankle or higher boots and jeans.

In the hot summer, I might wear shorts, but the boots are a given. I don't go out into the yard without them.
"Hurt your feet and all of you is hurt" - thats my motto.

These boots stay on the back porch by the exit door. They dont come inside the house.

imitation crocs...when just walking around in the coop....if Im using water or cleaning...then my rubber boots...shorts and t shirt...and mosiquito spray....

In the morning it's usually my pjs or a t shirt, depending on what I wear to bed the night before. It's usually still dark (4:30am) when I first go out to open the pop doors on the coops, so the neighbors can't see. I have an old pr of crocks that I keep by the back door and just slip on and off and leave on the rug just inside the door. DH bought me a boot scraper that I keep just outside the chicken coop so I can clean my shoes/boots before I head for the house.
Just before I leave for work I usually wear the shoes I'm wearing to work. I don't go all the way into the coop or run, just the storage area where I keep the food.
After work I try to change into jeans before I go out, but sometimes I just wear what I wore to work. I'm not usually very dressy, and everything I own is machine washable, so not a big deal. I do have rubber boots that I wear when the weather is bad and DH bought me a nice pair of Carharts to wear in the winter.
I don't always wear gloves when I'm cleaning the coops and I don't wear a mask. I guess I should so I don't catch the epozootie! I just wash up real well before I do anything else. I got over being grossed out about too much after raising 2 kids who loved to get dirty and play with bugs and critters!
