what kind of duck do I have?

Any idea how old they are? They are about the size of a male adult hand?

Wow! You got those at a pet store? They didn't know what they were? How much did they cost (that will tell a lot)? Those appear to be Wood ducks and not even normal colored. They look like possibly Apricot and Silver Wood ducks. Maybe it is just a funky angle on the picture, because it would be very unusual for someone to be selling them as ducklings (especially at a pet store).

Did they say where they obtained them? I just can't imagine they would have them at a pet store. Maybe they are Calls and their heads just look very square because of the angle. If they are Calls, they are probably Blue Fawn (or Pastel) and the yellow probably White. Maybe a Call breeder could tell you better than I. I do have a Blue Fawn Runner duckling that hatched this week that I can post for comparison later.

I vote scovies.

Muscovy duckling eyes are a little more almond shaped than rouen or mallards. They also get that one very straight stripe but no dot like a mallard or second stripe like a rouen.

Look at its feet. I bet it has some serious claws on it. All ducks have claws, but they are barely noticeable on most ducks...except scovies.

Muscovies! That didn't even occur to me! I don't raise them so I am not very familiar with what the ducklings look like. That would make a lot more sense though.

I have some crested ducks. Test eggs are now available on the "Other poultry" page.
