what kind of fish would work in a 5 gallon aquarium??

Imo 5g is far to small for anything. MAYBE one Betta, maybe. the smaller the tank the harder it is to keep levels where they should be. the more fish you have the higher the ammonia levels and harder for the nitrogen cycle to complete and stay in balance. Live aquatic plants will help...put a bunch in there with one fish.

Guppies, neons and zebras..they are small..don't create as much waste as the larger fish...guppies are colorful..just get males..or u will get to many babies..and pic up a few zebra/neon for a schooling fish. U can put about 5 mins or zebras and five guppies easily
