Hey y’all! This is Merle the chicken. I got her out of a prairie bluebell bin at rural king. I don’t know if that is what she is or not. What are your ideas on her breed. If you have this breed let me see pictures. :) The pictures below are her now and when she was a little one.

She does have a lot of similarities to a prairie bluebell. The only confusing thing is how muffed and feathered her face is. I would say she might be one, or at least a cross between a bluebell. Her body shape and feathering is almost exactly the same, as with her crest. But the color and face seems like it came from a different breed. Just my guess, though!

Since they're a hybrid it looks like the come in the same basic stature, but have different combs, head feathering and colors. My $$ is on Prairie Bluebell- and I'm partial to black or mostly black chickens- so win win!

I think my Hazel is a PBB? Definitely from Hoover's Hatchery. She hasn't laid any eggs yet. She's a very quiet and inquisitive bird. Smaller than the others so she gets picked on some. Not top of the pecking order for sure! Hard to tell from the pics maybe but she has interesting coloring.
