What kind of poisen?

I was using what I had at hand at the moment. No close neighbors to worry about. Maybe it isn't a 22.....I thought it looked like what the rifle takes, but I could be wrong. Just know it was for the pistol.

In all the years (and it's a lot) I've never had a rat problem before....mice, yes, but not rats. They're eating more than the chickens and I've got a lot of chickens.

Coke sounds like an urban legend, and eradibait sounds as safe and effective as DDT

. Remember when we could still use that? It was virtually non toxic to everything except mosquitos; never mind the effect on bald eagle eggs.

From the Eradibait FAQ:

Effective control is achieved with up to 40-60 grams of product per rat and 10-15 grams per mouse.

Thats a pound of the stuff for every 7-8 rats. I hope the rodents think it tastes better than your poultry feed, because they'll sure need to have quite a large feast before they expire.

Katy, I just called a friend who had a similar problem last year. He suggested gluing sticky rodent trap/pads 12 inches or so into a 3-4 inch diameter section of PVC pipe laid against the wall, and bait it with your poultry feed. Put the bait in the middle of the pipe and the sticky traps at both ends. He said it worked great, and even caught a couple of snakes too.

I actually picked up a couple of those sticky traps today as well as the giant mouse traps. I've got a portion of the pen I can shut off at night where they travel from the one coop to the duck pens so I thought I'd set them up in there tonight.

go to TSC and get a bait box and fill it with those blocks you get there, the green ones, i've never had anything get into the poisin except the rats and mice, hide the bait box away from your birds and such...
