What kind of Predator is this?????

i will definitely put the game camera up agian tonight, this is what i truly think, i have seen panthers, ferral cats, neighbors cats and bobcats all out here, look at the size of the little bit of grass that there is here, then compare it to the tail, dunno if you know how big a tail on a 100+lb panther is, but that looks like the size of one of my cats tails in my house. ive never seen a mink around here, and yes i have possums and coons that eat my birds but there obvoius when the do it, heads missing just to debrain them. idk, but if it is a panther, then im screwed, bc its either the 15 dollars birds or life in jail lol.

Yes it is a panther. I had the same issue and lost 11 in one night while one of my neighbors lost 12 in one night. I never once seen it or heard a single chicken cackle. If you want proof check all around the coop in the nearby woods. The one visiting me was taking them one by one and going into cover to devour each. I found huge clumps of feathers in different spots within 50 yards of the coop. The weeds and leaves were flat where I assume it layed down to enjoy its meals. The neighbors found the same thing near thier coop in the woods. In just a few visits over a month I went from having 40+ to 4. The neighbors went from about 20 to zero. It will continue to return until the food supply is exhausted. I ended up rescueing 2 very large dogs from the pound and am trying to rebuild my flock. They kill every possum and skunk that come anywhere near our home and coop. I have not had a predator issue since but am always removing chewed up predators, even young coons with my trusty shovel from our yard. Works for me. I live very close to a Greenbo State Park so taking out the panther or really any predators does nothing since they just get replaced.

hmmm well, ill set some bait out ton and try to see what it is again, if your right, which im hoping your not, i will hopefully get a good enough pic to see if it has a tracker on it as FWC is darting and trying to tag every cat around where i live as there is so few any more. if so, maybe they can come out and track it down, and see where it is sleeping at, and maybe ill find a gold mine of feathers from all my chickens and verify that is exacting what is taking my livestock. ive lost ducks, barn cats, about 50 chickens since i have moved here. my love for animals is being deminished from predators around here, i cant keep any alive without boxing them up like there stuffing peanuts in a hot coop in the summer of south florida. thanks

Thats too bad!

Maybe if you get a good pic on your trail camera you can call the DNR and have them come and relocate that big kitty! I hope it all works out and you can figure out some way to get rid of whatever it is! Good luck....

Ugh....I am really sorry. Sounds absolutely painful! I am hoping for a resolution and hopefully a time when you can enjoy your love for animals without so many hardships. Good luck!

I think its an Elephants trunk, possibly a wooly Mammoth!! They are worse than Cougars about stealing chickens, they just run their trunk over the fence and eat them like peanuts.
