What kind of shoes do you wear out to the chickens?

I posted this question last summer and was relieved that I wasn't being crazy. I have several pairs of rubber boots that we keep in a shed out by the chicken run. They are just your basic rain boots. The first couple of pairs I got were a bit tight and I didn't like having to pull them off so I got bigger ones that I can take off more easily.

My husband just walks in wearing his work boots. However, he "cleans" them off on the grass on the way back to the house, and his boots stay just inside the back door in the utility room. Everyone else's shoes are kept closer to the doorway into the house so I'm very adamant about wearing the special chicken boots.

eta: our operation is set up so I don't have to go in the coop or the run every day. We gather eggs and lock the chooks up from outside. We can also fill the feeder without going all the way into the coop. If I have to go in the coop to gather the odd stray egg or to refresh shavings, I wear the boots. If I have to change water (couple times a week) I wear the boots (and long pants).

I am still at the 'gotta go check my girls' stage of chickenry. I'm likely to be there just standing around watching their antics. I guess I've messed up just about everything I have to wear so far. Now a have slip-ons that I keep by the door closest to the coop.

They are a pair of house slippers inside a low rubber shoe cover. I like that they don't have deep ridges for chicken things to stick in. Anything is rubbed off on the walk back to the house.

I have been looking for something higher for winter trips to the coop. My low rubbers will not work once the snow starts piling up. Gotta be easy /off easy on.

My husband and I both wear "Sloggers" rubber clogs. We keep them on either front or back deck, depending on the weather. Since most of the time we are wearing regular slip on shoes, it's easy for us to change out our shoes before going out to the run. We don't track anything into the house that could get in to the carpet! I've had mine for about 7 years and DH has had his about 5. We've gotten our money's worth!

I have a pair of knock off Crocs, that I affectionately call my "Croc-Offs".

They stay by the back door, when I go work with the girls I slip them on, if they get dirty, and they do, I just rinse them off and leave them outside to dry and bring them back in later in the day.

Slip on shoes rock!

This is exactly what we use here! Mine are black but boy that fleece lining helps when its 10 degrees outside and ya have to tromp thru a few inches of snow to get to the coop. I do also have a pair of flip flops for summer I only wear in the coop/yard.

but I wear a pair of those swade looking slippers with rubber soles all over the farm.
They're getting OLD and one of them has cracked just behind the toes... so I keep getting wet, muddy, toes. At least I hope that's mud....
