We bought this turkey, off of our neighbors, when they moved.
They have NO clue, what kind of Turkey she is. They only knew she is 2 1/2 years old. They kept her in a VERY small cage, all by herself.
They were going to just let her loose...so, we offered to take her instead.
She is now here with us, and has her own little free range area to enjoy....next to my D'Uccle play area. She has fallen in LOVE, with my little Mille Roo. lol
She is a very sweet soul. Took her a couple days, to get used to free ranging, but now seems to really enjoy it. We did clip her wings, lice dust her, and wormed her....gave her the whole "once over."
She was scared to death of me, for the first couple days...but now walks up, semi close to me, and waits for her food. Still not quite a pet Turkey, but has come a LONG way, in just a little bit of time.
We would like to find out, what breed or mix of breeds, she is...and maybe look into buying a couple more of her breed (or hatching eggs).
She is SOO much calmer, than the Royal Palms, we used to have. If this a breed trait, these would be a breed of Turkey, we would like to get started in.
Thanks for any, and all info!
