We bought this turkey, off of our neighbors, when they moved.
They have NO clue, what kind of Turkey she is. They only knew she is 2 1/2 years old. They kept her in a VERY small cage, all by herself.
They were going to just let her loose...so, we offered to take her instead.

She is now here with us, and has her own little free range area to enjoy....next to my D'Uccle play area. She has fallen in LOVE, with my little Mille Roo. lol
She is a very sweet soul. Took her a couple days, to get used to free ranging, but now seems to really enjoy it. We did clip her wings, lice dust her, and wormed her....gave her the whole "once over."
She was scared to death of me, for the first couple days...but now walks up, semi close to me, and waits for her food. Still not quite a pet Turkey, but has come a LONG way, in just a little bit of time.

We would like to find out, what breed or mix of breeds, she is...and maybe look into buying a couple more of her breed (or hatching eggs).
She is SOO much calmer, than the Royal Palms, we used to have. If this a breed trait, these would be a breed of Turkey, we would like to get started in.

Thanks for any, and all info!

Its a hen and from what I can tell, most likely a Red -bronze. I cannot see her wing feathers very clearly, nor her primary wing feathers, so she might be bronze based or black winged. Pretty bird!

A bronze based bird withsome red in it certainly seems likely. But something else also appears to be going on. The wing secondaries look white or cream colored? That would not be expected in a typical red-bronze. I wouldn't mind seeing a better picture of the wings. What are the primaries like?

I will try to post better pics, tomorrow. But, for now...I just brought her inside, to take these pics.
Some of the pics, are with flash, others without.

Since we had clipped her primaries, they do not show, in the pics. But, I did find one of them, still in the yard, and took a pic of it too.

And someone PM'd me, asking about her tail colors....well, here they are...

Yup...Red bronze. The peppered flecking on the secondaries and primaries is typical for the red bronze. Like Lagger, I also thought the secondaries looked light in the photo, and thought there might be something else in there. Your new photos give all the answers.

Thank you very much, turkaholic, and Lagerdogger. I truly appreciate it!

Now that I know what she is...I can keep on the lookout, for more of her kind.
turkaholic....I see you list red bronze, in your signature. Ever sell any hatching eggs?? lol
