Silly little things. Tiny beet shoots popping up in garden, one lone bean plant. Finally planted blackberries and didn't get eaten by gnats!

It was a beautiful day here, so we went out for brunch at an outdoor restaurant. That's one thing I hope it least some places keep after the pandemic's over -- I love eating outdoors!

I got to see the chickens in the yard when I drove in. It's rare that they are out before I get home from work.

You... planted blackberries? I know they taste good, but in my experience the hard part is keeping them from completely taking over. I had some wild ones start in my front yard, and I thought, "Yum, blackberries!" Then I had to trim them back and trim them back. Then I tried to get rid of them and it took me 5 years of viciously pulling out every bit as soon as it poked up to do so.

Knowing we did a good job on our coop addition yesterday made me happy today. Also, I learned how to use a chop saw, and feel like I could do some small projects on my own now. DH is a good builder, and a good teacher too.

I started folding socks like this, which somehow made my sock drawer seem happier today. Also had a yellow finch and female cardinal *finally* visit the birdfeeder. No hummers yet!
