What made you happy today?

I got half of my birds moved into the greenhouse. I have two more pens to move, but I'll get them done tomorrow. It's supposed to snow this week.

I took about 12 buckets of compost out of the chicken run and put it on the compost bed today. The reward will be next spring when my asparagus grows lots of tasty spears. But the thought makes me happy.

I think I would be loving the weather if I weren't on a greenhouse that doesn't hold heat at night.

I put 5 totes of leaves into the chickens' run today. After they got over their fright, they were very happy to scratch and peck through the piles. Watching that made me happy.

We raked leaves into our run today too. It was Christmas morning for them!

I put a bunch of leaves into the two quail pens that were still outside last night. They're all in the greenhouse now.

Now I need to go study. The two garden beds that I made are cinder blocks, and those retain warmth for a while after sunset. I'll have to look for other options too.
