Pileated woodpeckers are one of my favorite! We have them in Ohio and I never get tired of seeing them

Woodpeckers in general are a joy to watch! Something about them banging their face against a tree is funny.

So far this morning, I saw a pileated woodpecker hopping up a tree and I managed to record a video of it. Only birders will understand the happiness of seeing a pileated woodpecker.

I hear them in the Spring, but have noticed them flying by once (maybe twice?) since we moved here in 2006.

In 17 years I've seen 2 Indigo buntings as well
