What makes a coop "Fort Knox" predator proof?

I really liked what I learned in that video, and I'm hoping to incorporate as much of it as I can, according to how it would work out in my pens.

My other thought on your run was, being from MI myself originally, I know you are going to get heavy snow falls eventually, and you might want to consider adding some support posts to your run ceiling.

I just finished my coop. I used the 1/2 inch hardware cloth on sides and bottom under 5 inches of sand. No Squirrels, Raccoons, or Rattlers will get in. All other areas are wood. Help I can't figure out how to add my picture.

You did an awesome job on that. I wish mine was as neatly done. I did the bottom of my fence like yours and my chickens have begun digging holes under the boards on the bottom. The biggest one is about 3" to 4" long and 2" thick. We have lots of snakes, coyotes and other vermin.

I'm not sure if live security has come up here yet. I'm to lazy to read. But the best "fort knox" I've found for chickens is free range with their own pet predators. I have 2 dogs and 7 cats patrolling my property plus come spring we are buying large livestock and more dogs.

Thank you. You might just need to add hardware clothe to the bottom. That will keep the snakes out. I laid it at the bottom inside and up about 2 inches on the sides then nailed it with U shape nails.

Very nice! I added1"x4" boards, screwed in to the framing, over the top of the hardware cloth, and 2"x4" woven wire over the bottom four ft. for more security. Mary
