What might be the problem with my silkies?

What I am saying is that if you provide them with just a crumble feed of at least 16%, and have oyster shell free choice, you will not have any issues with laying. I have not noticed a difference in production since I started doing it this way instead of using layer pellets. There is nothing really different in layer pellets other than an increase in protein.

But like I said, water this time of year is vital!

I just wanted to come back on and post that I changed to ONLY layer pellets and water and fresh grass twice a week (until they move into their new home when it is finished). Still no eggs. I got 2 more hens last week and they each lay an egg every day and they have the same living arrangements (different areas and pens) and get fed and watered at the same time and from the same food container and water spigot. Maybe those 3 are just taking a break.....at least I hope that's all it is.

. they are molting, hen dont typically lay during the molt, they may need more grit in their crop(buy crushed oyestershells), its possible their old, they may not be getting the right feed(buy laying hen feed). it could be any number of things but its defintly NOT "hair in there faces".
