My 2.5 month old Dark Cornish isnt eating. She just stand around hunched up. she acts as though walking is hard to do. She will drink. She "yawns" a lot when i take her outside and her chirp seems deep and hoarse, but its always sounded that way.

Any ideas what might be going on?

the yawning could be adjusting her crop but look for other symptoms. look listen and feel her for other clues. does she act sleepy and lethargic? how is her breathing is it labored? is there any sound when she breathes? is her feathers ruffled. how is her poo? not enough symptoms to really tell but it could be coccidodis. with cocci bloody poo is not always present. they act very sleepy and lethargic. if you agree that symptoms sound like cocci keeping in mind bloody poo does not have to be present always with cocci. you can treat with corid. corid kills all 9 strains of cocci while other meds only kill some strains. if she is acting real sleepy and lethargic and is ruffled up my guess would be cocci. but look for other symptoms. if there are none I'd treat for cocci. please look up coccidosis and see if you agree that symptoms match keeping in mind bloody poo does NOT have to always be present with cocci. I'd start the corid asap. I do hope this is helpful to you and wish you the best. if you discover any other symptoms please let us know. but for now symptoms sound like cocci
corid should take care of this issue. Hope she gets better really soon. good luck.

She is on medicated chick feed, so I ahve doubts about cocci.

Although, that does bring to mind that corid can cause other problems if given over a prolonged period of time. I have heard that is can cause a drop in thiamin.

She is acting sleepy, that pretty much describes it. All her other siblings are doing well, active and boisterous. She has always wandered around, from the day I got her, tail down and rough sounding chirp. There is no sound when she breathes.

Ive just noticed that today she seems especially unhappy.

her poo is dark chocolate brown.

I had one that was yawning all the time and would only eat soft food. Took her to the vet and the vet said it was a throat infection and sent us home with Cephalexin 250mg.

Get a baseline weight on her, she's still young enough that she should be gaining weight, daily.

I do wonder about her weight. I dont ahve a weight machine though. She is the same size as my other chicks now, though they are 3 weeks younger than she is!

There are no poultry vets within 200 miles of here. Whatever is bothering her, i hope it does not spread.

Im going to upload a video. I hope it helps. Its windy, so she nearly topples over at one point when a good gust comes along and gives her a push.

You cant really hear her chirping over the wind, but the end of the video you hear a few clucks out of her. She sounds more like a goose than a chick, always deep voiced and hoarse.

Oxitetracycline. There are so many drugs banned here, its rediculous.

Im adding that to the water. I really hope it helps...is there anything else that is "home grown" that might help?
