Well I cook a full dinner just about every night of the week...and I too bake...if you say brownie, I can have them in the oven in about 10 minutes and I don't open a box! I own chickens, everyone around me thinks I'm a bit "differant!" certainly no one here does though!
I've always felt a bit "outside the norm" and nothing I do seems to be able to change it. lol I've learned to love it.
Well, I have a very large group of reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates that I love dearly and I take to college and other places for educational talks. I handle my large Rat and Bullsnakes in public during my talks, bring out my big lizards, alligator snapping turtles, tarantulas...all this while generally wearing a pencil skirt and stilettos. It's my thing. I'm a member of the reptile community in this area, have been for 6 years, and I'm aware that a lot of people tend to form undesirable preconceived notions about reptile/exotics enthusiasts. I like to try to do my part in showing people that we're not always the way they think we are.
Hmm...I also speak Mandarin Chinese(I'm not actually Chinese at all), I ONLY listen to 1960's-80's music, I'm nearly 22 and I do not drink at all. Oh...and I have 15 baby chickens in my bedroom currently.
I am a homeschooling single mom of 3. I choose to work only enough to support us which is 2-3 days a week (only when the kids are at their Dad's). We drive an 11 year old car that I bought outright. I have NO debt whatsoever and never will ever. There is nothing more important to me than spending ever minute I am capable of with my kids. I paid for my college as I went and so no debt there. We dress VERY modestly which is unheard of these days. We are very conservative Christians. We have NO TV, radio or newspaper. We only watch G and a very few PG movies. All three of my kids crochet, including my 12 year old son. We brood all the chickens in the family room so we can see them constantly and interact with them all the time. We have the NICEST flock now. I HATE housework.... or rather... I would rather spend time with my kids than getting totally freaked out that there are clean crumbs on the counter I just cleaned. So my true friends just accept that my house is messier than most. And all three of my dogs sleep with me in my king size bed. I wouldn't have it any other way!!
Oh and bake!! I bake all the time! I love it... hence the overweight part
Cookies, cakes, brownies, shortcake, crisps, breads etc.
I am seriously thinking about becoming vegetarian (with seafood and eggs). I would love more info on it!
How am I different? That's a hard question to answer. I always thought that I was a different breed because I always wanted to raise my own food. I wanted the earthhome, solar power, clean earth, the whole thing. Now I realize that there are many, many people that think like me. I guess now the only thing different about me is that I work nuclear plants during outages. I'm a radiation protection tech, which is a glorified baby sitter.(kidding) I travel around quite a bit during the spring and fall, usually having summer and winter off. I do it so that I can afford my 7 acre farm and animals. My daughter and granddaughter live with me and take care of things when I'm not home. Life is good...
hmm let's see, married at 18, still married to the same wonderful man (24 yrs), grandmother at 41 (had a little hard time with that, thought I was to young to be a grandmother lol) I cook everything from scratch, no fast meals from a box and dinner is always ready and on table at 5pm. Love horseback riding, own 4 horses. My hub and I both are Vol Fire Fighters.. we have chickens now
We plant a garden every year and I put up everything I can. Ran my own catering business for 4 years.. love being outside, reading, the deeper I can dig into a subject better I like it... and most of all I love spending time w/ my family (hub, 2 sons, daughter and 6month old grandson)
I too cook all my meals from scratch...don't like the "extras" found in ready made meals. Would love to have another five kids. Very active in my faith. Believe that the problems with society can be traced back to the family. Wheather it is not enough responsiblity for the children, lack of parental involvement, lack of manual labor, and my biggest pet peeve, lack of integrity. Sorry about the soap box.
I was going to say, but seeing all the posts, I think I may be a bit *TOO* different!! some of you may fall over dead from shock, and that would leave too many orphan chickies!!!!
